Celebrate with these 4 Low-fat desserts this season!

No celebration in India is complete without a flash of sweetness. Desserts are the highlight of every Indian festival.

With Diwali around the corner and festivities stepping in. Just like the multi-coloured rangolis that adorn the entrances of our homes, one can find dessert table decked with a variety of Diwali sweets.

Women Fitness team brings you a collection of low-calorie Diwali recipes you can enjoy without the guilt of putting on extra weight:

1. Low-fat rice kheer:

You can have this super-tasty kheer without having a guilt trip!

Method: Add 150 ml milk to a bowl, and add 130gms of milk powder while stirring. Keep it aside. Pour another 150 ml milk in a pan on medium heat. Now add half cup washed and soaked rice to the pan and boil for 8-12 minutes. Add the milk mix you’d earlier kept aside and boil for another 5 minutes. Keep stirring. Add 7-10 almonds (pre-soaked, skin removed) and cut them into long slivers. Add these with 3-4 teaspoons of sugar and half teaspoon powdered cardamom powder to the boiling mixture. Serve hot, warm or cold.

2. Corn Kheer:

Try this kheer with a twist of corn!

Method: Add kernels from 2-3 corns to a deep pan along with half cup milk and bring to a boil. Once boiling, remove from heat and cool. Now grind the mixture and keep aside. Add 150ml skimmed milk to a bowl, and slowly stir in 130gms of milk powder. Separately, add another 150ml skimmed milk to a deep pan on medium heat. Add the corn mixture and boil for 8-12 minutes. Add the earlier milk mix to this and boil for another 5 minutes, stirring constantly. Now add almond slivers, sugar to taste, and half teaspoon cardamom powder to the boiling mix. Serve hot, warm, or cold.

3. Oats and Carrot Kheer

Method: Soak 1 cup oats and 15 raisins in half cup milk for 8 minutes. Boil 2 and a half cups skimmed milk with 1 chopped carrot for 5 minutes. To this, add the soaked oats and raisins and boil for 5 minutes. Now, add 2 teaspoon Isabgol husk, almond slivers and some cardamom powder to the mix. Garnish with pistachios & sunflower seeds. Serve warm or cold.

4. Almond Burfi

Enriched with the benefits of almonds, this burfi will surely curb your sweet pangs.

Method: Add 125gms sugar in a deep pan and add 50ml water. Boil till you get a thick syrup. This will take around 6-7 minutes. Now take it off the flame and add 250gms of almond meal to the sugar syrup. Stir well to avoid lumps. Once it cools, it’ll become thick. This is when you transfer it to a slightly greased surface and roll out to the desired burfi thickness. Let it cool and add 3-4 sheets of varak. Let it sit for an hour and then cut into squares or diamonds.
