Bollywood industry is an amazing world of witty happenings where film-leads turn into singers and singers into producers. Directors are also in the race! Blessed is Bollywood that still owns talented directors who bring to life breathtaking stories to their audiences. One old yet great name is Sudhir Mishra. He was acclaimed by the critics for ‘Hazaaron Khwaishein Aisi’ and ‘Chameli’ but also appreciated as actor in “Khamosh” and “Traffic Signal”.
Every time I watch a brilliantly directed movie with stunning scenes a question pops up in my mind ‘why the director is not in the acting field?’ Well, fortunately I am to see my favorite directors in movies. Below I have listed my personal favorite directors who unveiled their acting skills and earned fair admiration.
- Farhan Akhtar:
What a mesmerizing voice this man has! This multitalented person is a complete package for Bollywood. ‘Dil Chahta Hai’ was his directorial debut then blockbuster Don and Don2 to urban hit Lakshya is also on his record.
‘Rock On!!’ was his first film as actor and then list goes on including ‘By Chance’, ‘Bhaag Milkha Bhaag’, ‘Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara’ and ‘Shaadi Ke Side Effects’ to name the few.
Farhan Akhtar is everything from writer, director, producer, lyricist and playback singer. I wish to see him doing choreography one day! Who knows?
- Farah Khan:
Farah Khan is the fluffy and naughty Indian celebrity who entered the industry as choreographer and director later.
Eminently fit to her real personality, she made her acting debut with Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s ‘Shirin Farhad Ki Toh Nikal Padi’. With fairly expressive and well-suited vocal, Farah appeared as guest star in ‘Student of the Year’ and ‘Om Shanti Om’ and few more.
I simply cannot resist watching this lively lady who always rocks before camera as she does behind it.
- Tigmanshu Dhulia:
I remember him as director of Bullet Raja-one of my favorites. In ‘Gangs of Wasseypur’, I was surprised to see Tigmanshu Dhulia; Bollywood’s one of the busiest directors. And, then Gangs of ‘Wasseypur 2’, ‘Shahid’ and ‘Manjhi-The Mountain Man’ arrived on the screens.
‘Where have you been man?’ is all what I wanted to ask him. His performance is unique and simply captive.
Now ‘Hero’ is in the cinemas, he also acted in this movie that has launched two talented youngsters Sooraj Pancholi and Athiya Shetty in the Bollywood industry.
- KJo-Karan Johar:
I can’t believe some people don’t like KJo. Sounds creepy. I cannot help it as he is my college crush because I believe him to be the king of romance amongst directors. Remember, his all-time romantic blockbuster ‘Kuch Kuch Hota Hai’.
Factually, he made his first appearance on in ‘Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge’ as Shahrukh Khan’s friend, he also appeared in ‘Main Hoon Na’, ‘Salaam-e-Ishq’, ‘Om Shanti Om’, ‘Fashion and Luck by Chance’ etc.
In recently launched ‘Bombay Velvet’, KJo played a full-fledged role with dapper look and acted brilliantly.
Fingers Crossed for his upcoming romantic blossom ‘Shaandaar’. He produced and acted in this movie.
- Anurag Kashyap:
Known for Black Friday and Dev D’s direction, Anurag Kashyap was brought on board by Tigmanshu for his film ‘Shagird’. Though he went unnoticed, but he didn’t quit and faced the camera again in ‘Bhoothnath’ Returns and Happy New Year as guest star.
He has all the quality that actually are requested to be a good actors. I am so eager to see him in upcoming ‘Akira’ where he co-starres with Sonakshi Sinha and Konkona Sen Sharma.
