Unless we don’t make things worse by exposing ourselves to chemicals, almost everything can be cured naturally, and same goes for acne. So, instead of spending money on your next appointment for a treatment that isn’t showing any results, try these remedies to fight that acne.

Aloe Vera

6 Amazing home remedies for acne!

Nothing can be better for the skin than aloe vera, and I say this from experience. I have been struggling with acne for quite some time now, and when I decided to do something about it myself rather than depending on the doctors, I came across a youtube channel that suggested applying aloe vera to your skin as a mask to prevent acne outbreaks. Luckily, I live in Himachal and we have aloe planted at our home, so I have access to a pure, chemical-free aloe vera gel. It has been a month since I started applying the gel and left it overnight and hasn’t it been doing wonders to my skin. Not only are there lesser outbreaks, my skin looks healthy, something that was absent in the chemical treatments. If you can’t grow aloe vera in your area, you can always go for the Patanjali Aloe Vera gel. The Auxin and Gibberellin hormone in aloe vera not only acts as an anti-inflammatory agent but also stimulate the growth of new skin cells, healing it faster and making it look better. An overnight aloe vera mask can do wonders, and you can even try substituting all your beauty products for aloe vera based ones.

Honey

This natural sweetener might not sound like the best go-to acne healer, for we are often told that too much sweet can cause acne as well, but not only is Honey a better substitute for sugar, it can help heal your skin as well. So, you can either use honey as a mask and apply it over your entire face or simply dab it on the acne, if you can’t handle the stickiness that comes with it. Its antibacterial property helps prevent acne, while the anti-oxidants present in it can slow down the aging of the skin. it opens pores, making it easier to unclog them. If you apply it as a mask all over your face, then it’s best to rinse it off with warm water after 30 minutes.

Lemon

I’m pretty sure this isn’t the first time that someone’s telling you that lemon juice can help reduce acne, because well it is the most universally accepted natural treatment, for it is available almost everywhere. Lemon juice mixed with sugar works as an excellent exfoliator which is also a remedy for stretch marks or cellulite. you can either directly dab some lemon juice onto your acne, and acne marks or you can use a lemon whose juice has been squeezed out and scrub it all over your face. The second approach is better according to me because (a) you don’t have to worry about removing it very soon because there is little exposure to citric acid, and (b) as lemons can help in lightening the skin, this way achieves that along with reducing acne.

Coffee and Honey Mask

6 Amazing home remedies for acne!

We have already gone through the benefits of honey, so now it’s time to mix it up with some ground coffee. Caffeine has anti-inflammatory properties that help to reduce any redness or irritation on the skin, something that is directly associated with acne. Now getting down to the scrub, you can use the regular Nescafe coffee for this scrub. I have realized that Bru is a little too powdery to be used for this scrub because coffee is also acting as an exfoliator here. Apply the coffee and honey mixture onto your face and leave it for 15 mins, and then after scrubbing off the excess, rinse the remaining with warm water. Doing this twice a week is sufficient. You might feel some itchiness while the mask is on, but don’t worry it’ll subside once you rinse it off. However, if you have an allergy or if it grows very itchy, then rinse off immediately and discontinue the use.

Apple Cider Vinegar

So, this is another acidic substance that can help a lot with acne. The Malic and Lactic acids present in apple cider vinegar soothe irritated skin and redness. The best part is that it doesn’t require extra time to be used for you can substitute your toner for an apple cider vinegar, homemade toner. All you need to do for this DIY toner is mix apple cider vinegar with equal amount of water and then using cotton balls apply it to your skin. you can either make fresh toner before each use, or simply store it in a separate container in one go, but if you go for the storing, make sure you shake it well before each use. Same rules apply for using it undiluted on the face as did for lemon juice, i.e., apply it only to the affected area for acid can burn the skin to some extent on regular use, hence undiluted exposure to unaffected areas over a period of time can prove detrimental.

Papaya

6 Amazing home remedies for acne!

The benefits of Papaya for our health are innumerable. From improving digestion to making the skin healthier, money spent on Papayas solves many purposes. It sure doesn’t come as a surprise that the beauty industry is turning towards Papaya based skin care products at a fast pace. Not only does it remove dead skin cells, but lipids or fats on the surface of the skin, that convert to oil, as well. Mashing the flesh of the Papaya till it reaches a consistency that can be easily applied on the skin makes for an excellent mask. Keep this on for 15-20 minutes and then rinse it off with warm water, following it up with moisturizer. Papaya seeds when dried and grounded can be used as an excellent homemade scrub.

The only downside of natural remedies in this fast-paced world is that we don’t have enough time to dedicate to them for we need instant results, with the least amount of hard work, something which is not possible if one is looking for longer lasting results. Thus, it is essential that I warn my readers that these remedies won’t give you any instant result, however, over time they will prove to be better than any chemical treatment, with zero side effects. It is possible that you might be allergic to something, in which case discontinue the use. While very rarely do such circumstances arise when using natural products, it’s best to stay on guard.
