With the winters bidding farewell, prickly summer is in! Imagine what it will or what it already is doing to you. Skin tan, rashes, sweaty skin and many such horrors of summer. But there is an escape.

Head to these following destinations to experience a good vacation and protect yourself from the scorching sun.

Sikkim:

Though a small state in the northwest area, Sikkim nurtures the world’s third highest mountain –Khangchendzonga. It has such enchanting natural beauty with its glaciers, alpine meadows and amazing varieties of wildflowers. It’s Buddhist monasteries are as old as 1700s. You will never want to come back.

How to get there–Sikkim is a state in India so it’s pretty easy to go there. Go by flight, by car or by bike but don’t forget to carry clothes that will keep you warm.

Ranikhet:

Situated in Uttarakhand, Ranikhet is a precious town to discover. It has something to offer to every traveller and it is afavourite destination of mountaineers. This charming hill station means ‘Queensland’ and it is a much sought after tourist destination in every season.

How to get there –Kathgodam in Uttarakhand is the nearest railway station from Ranikhet. Take a cab from there to reach this marvellous place.

Nubra Valley:

Sand dunes, monasteries, a desolate palace, boulder fields, arid mountains, what more do you ask for? Nubra Valley, formerly known as Ldumra meaning Valley of flowers, is a green oasis pretty much relaxing and soothing.

How to get there –If you are travelling by air, Leh is the nearest airport. Hire a taxi from Leh airport to reach Nubra Valley. If by train, Jammu is the nearest railway station. From there, head for Leh by a cab and then to Nubra Valley. If you are travelling by van or bus or jeep, you can reach this place from Leh which is 150km away from this exotic valley.

Rohtang Pass:

This location attracts 25 lakhs tourists every year. So you can imagine how exciting this place must be. You lose track of life here, you will want to stay here forever.

How to get there –If you are travelling by air, Bhuntar is the nearest airport, about 104km from Rohtang pass. If you are travelling by train, Jogindar Nagar Railway station is at a distance of about 103km. You can also go by bus. Himachal Road Transport Corporation buses start from Manali and go as far as Leh via Rohtang Pass.

Conoor:

If you are looking for a tranquil summer, pack your bags and set off to Conoor. It has a cool climate that will make you forget it’s summer. It is one of the Nilgiri hill stations that stands above the southern plane. It has expansive tea plantations and a striking environment.

How to get there–By air, the nearest airport is Peelamedu Airport in Tamil Nadu. By railway, Conoor is well connected to other cities. By road, you can reach Conoor from Ooty which is 18km away or from Coimbatore that is 71km away.
