The first woman never to win the prestigious Fields Medal prize comes from Iran – funnily enough, the second best placed mathematician is our fellow Indian Manjul Bhargava who grew up in Canada. Sorry Manul, even though we are proud of you we are happy it is finally a woman that made the first place.
