Monsoon beauty guide

Hasta la vista summer! It’s time for the monsoon, for beautiful raindrops and a romantic mood. It’s time for hot and spicy food and lazy days. But wait, isn’t it also the time to take extra care of ourselves? With the air becoming humid, there’s a natural tendency for the skin to become dry. Also, many infections are on the rise such as flu, cold, jaundice, dysentery, typhoid, etc. It’s essential to see what’s there on our plate. Apart from that, self-grooming in monsoon is a must. It becomes so difficult to dry hair naturally. Dust particles easily settle on the skin and regular cleansing and exfoliation becomes necessary.

So before the rain hits us with its side effects, here’s a complete beauty guide for your hair and skin.

Pamper your skin in the rains

Although you can bear with the cool climate, you can not ignore the problems associated with it such as itchy skin, acne, dryness, etc.

  • If your skin is dry, moisturise it well. Use a good moisturiser at least 2-3 times a day.
  • Use a lotion to keep your skin nourished and protected from pollution, dust and dirt.
  • Use a water-proof foundation to do away with dryness.
  • Since it rains, people put away their sunscreen. Use an SPF loaded sunscreen because once you step out, harmful UV rays of the Sun starts hitting you.
  • Keep your skin hydrated by using a cream based cleanser. Also, drink plenty of water.

  • If you have a combination of both oily and dry skin, scrub your face twice a week to remove dirt, blackheads and grime.
  • Cleansing and exfoliation from the outside is not everything. You must take care of your health as well if you want a beautiful skin.

  • Wash your hair every alternate days to remove the dust and build up.
  • Deep condition your hair with coconut oil to seal in the much required moisture.
  • Avoid brushing your hair when they are wet otherwise you will experience extreme breakage.
  • Don’t tie your hair when it’s wet. To dry them faster, wrap a towel around your head and use a wide toothed comb to manage locks.
  • Stay away from styling your hair using heat. Also, it’s not the right time for you to use serums and gels as they will cause more and more build up.
  • Don’t dye your hair because chances are, they will be washed off with the downpour.
  • Try to keep your hair as dry as possible to avoid lice infections.
  • Opt for short hairstyles as they are manageable and takes less time to dry. Long tresses are difficult to manage in the monsoons so consult with your stylist for a short and funky hairstyle.
