On the wedding day, it is a custom with people to feed the newly-weds sweets. But the guest list being huge one can but feel sorry for the couple who would have to eat all those sweets with a smile on their face. Couples put so much of effort in coming up with something new for their wedding but when it comes to this part of the story, they fail to innovate. Now, if you don’t want to be stuck in a situation where you would have to eat sweets all throughout the ceremony, then here are some interesting and innovative substitutes which can replace the age old mithai.
- Dry fruit chocolate rocks
Dry fruit chocolate are not only easy to make but also make for a healthier alternative to those calories laden sweets. All that you have to do is sugar coat the nuts in a layer of milk or dark chocolate of your choice. But obviously, you won’t have the time to do it by yourselves at your wedding, so why not hire a chocolatier to do it for you.
Delicious and pretty, these bite-sized cookies will surely make your guests forget all about sweets when they behold these beauties. Get your chocolatier to make the cookies in interesting shapes such as stars, moons, hearts etc. You can even choose from a range of flavors such as strawberry, orange, chocolate chips or coconut flavors to tickle your taste buds and impress your guests. You can always pair your cookies with shots of milk to swallow it all down.
This is another interesting twist to the traditional mithai routine. Brownies, marshmallows and fruits gel really well with chocolate fondue. Aim to make the bites as small as possible. This is a very convenient thing for guests as well as all they have to do is choose a dipper, roll it in fondue and in it goes in your mouth.
- Few salty treats
We all know that sweets are considered auspicious at weddings but you have every right to give your personal touch to the proceedings. If you feel that you won’t be able to handle so many sweets, then try going the salty way. Intersperse your sweets, cookies and fondues with a few canapes, crackers or cheese fondue. That will definitely break the monotony of having only sweets.
- Go bold
Well if you thought going salty was bold then think again. How about substituting that sweet with a veggie of your choice or a mini salad bowl? How healthy and bold is that? It is a daring move but we must admit a very healthy one at that. For added boldness, you can replace the veggies with golgappas which will be symbolic of all the sweet and sour moments in your life henceforth.
We hope you liked our innovative suggestions and would be bold enough to implement them at your own wedding.
