The Indian subcontinent is home to a plethora of artists and we have strings of writers, singers, painters, sculptors and other creative personas that create magic on canvas for us. Many of the painters have received worldwide recognition and they have been exceptional talents. Following article will highlight on the famous painters of India.

Rabindra Nath Tagore:

Rabindranath Tagore was a man of a kind. He was a painter, poet,  Brahmo Samaj enthusiast, a visual artist, playwright, a novelist,  and a composer. His works were born from a very early age.

M.F. Hussain:

M.F. Hussain, or Maqbool Fida Hussain, was born on 17th September 1915 in Maharashtra. He is the most famous artist of India, is internationally acclaimed, and has reached heights of success.

 

F.N. Souza:

Born in the year 1924 in Saligao, he used to live in a small town in Goa. He lost his father at a very young age, and he was infected with small pox. These weird incidences instigated him to create his own niche and bring paintings to life.

 

Jatin Das:

Jatin Das , a painter, was born in the year 1941 in Orissa. He is one of the most creative artists of India and is an exoert in painting, sculpture, graphic art, murals and even poetry.

 

Jamini Roy:

One of the most magnificient painters of the 20th century, he was born 1887, in Bankura district, Bengal. His painting forms are that of women with lotus shaped eyes, gods and goddesses.

 

Abanindranath Tagore:

Being the nephew of Rabindranath Tagore, the famous novelist, painter and playwright, Abanindranath was born on 7th August 1871. He was the most recognized artist of the Bengal school of painting, and was a major supporter of Swadeshi values and feelings in ancient Indian art.
All of these artists created magic on canvas and painted the most beautiful paintings and sculptures for the world to witness. They are the true gems of India, and their works are widely acclaimed everywhere in the world.
