anushka sharma says no to gender discrimination

Anushka Sharma is always seen portraying strong female characters on the big screen. Be it Ladies vs Ricky Bahl, NH10, Band Baja Baaraat orPK, all her roles depict a strong, confident woman ready to fight against all odds.

Her debut film was ‘Rab ne bana di Jodi’ opposite Shahrukh Khan. Since then we’ve seen her starring in various movies. But her journey to success was not easy. She tasted her set of defeats with films like Patiyala House and Badmaash Company.

When asked what appeals her most while selecting a project, she points out to the storyline, the director and the characters. She says:

I don’t think that a film should be known as ‘male-centric’ or ‘female-centric’, but it should be known for the story. That would be really nice and viable too. I think ‘NH10’ could have been done equally well by anybody else and it’s not a ‘female-centric’ or ‘male-centric’ film. It’s the story that will appeal to the audience.

She also affirms that “there is no particular subject that I want to address, as a producer I want to make films that will appeal to the audience.”

After the dark thriller NH10, she is back with a romantic fiction ‘Phillauri.’

But before that we will see her share the big screen with Salman Khan in the movie Sultan.
