2014 Oscars – hosted by Ellen Degeneres

The hosts of Oscars are known for their fun, quirky attitude, ballsy humor and at times, sexist antics (remember Seth MacFarlane’s ‘We Saw Your Boobs’ ditty from last year?).  The 2014 Oscar host, was Emmy-winning talk show host Ellen Degeneres who got the ball rolling.

A tuxedo-clad Ellen kicked off the star-studded night with some traditional sense of humor and poked fun at the unsettled Californian weather. “For those of you watching, it’s been a tough couple of days for us here,” she said. “It’s been raining. We’re fine. Thank you for your prayers.” As she started her opening monologue, I couldn’t help but reminisce about a very kind, playful, scatterbrained and forgetful Dory from the animated blockbuster, Finding Nemo.

She took some hilarious, playful jabs at her contemporaries and nominees like Jennifer Lawrence, Barkhad Abdi and Jared Letto. “If you win tonight, I think we should bring you the Oscar,” said DeGeneres while playfully bantering with Jennifer, reminding everyone of Lawrence’s embarrassing stumble on her way to collect Best Actress Academy Award last year. Moreover, she made everyone laugh their ass off by mocking Dallas Buyers Club as a film that “deals with the serious issue of people who have sex at rodeos.” “Don’t do it,” she added. “It looks appealing, but oof…”

Ellen, obviously in a fun mood, put Jonah Hill on blast for jerking off his prosthetic penis in The Wolf of Wall Street.  “You showed us something in that film that I have not seen for a very, very long time”, she said teasingly. She even ordered pizza for Hollywood royalties and took an endearing, twitter-crashing selfie with A-list celebs like Meryl Streep, Jared Leto, Jennifer Lawrence, Channing Tatum, Julia Roberts, Bradley Cooper, Kevin Spacey, Brad Pitt, Angelina Jolie, and Lupita Nyong’o.
